Custom Easter baskets

Every year I make Easter Baskets.
I have my baskets posted on Etsy and someone convoed me and asked if I would embroider names on the baskets.
Heck Yea!!!
How did I never think of this myself.
The frames are from Applique alley
I did skip some of the fancy outlines.  I had to keep it small here yet have room for the name in there.

This levi was a challenge!  But I love how it turned out.
FYI --I am selling the pattern on my website  . I am also selling it as a set with the precut plastic!

Corn Pillows

I forgot to show you this quick fun project we did for valentines.
Corn Pillows for the teachers.  Aren't these fabrics too cute!

It was not a set pattern.  Most of the backs overlapped and then the separate pillow stuffed inside. They can pull the little pillow out of the "pillow case" and heat it up then pop it back in.  A few of the last I made were just the pillow as is with out an opening.

I didn't consider until after I got these all pretty with rickrack that the rickrack is polyester.  I hope it doesn't start to burn in the microwave. We tried a couple and they worked.  Hopefully no issues arise!

Now what to do with the rest of the 50 pound bag.  The lady assured me it was cheaper to just buy the bag rather than purchase by the pound!   Teacher Appreciation Week at the Jr High? 55 bags?

A get away

JuJu and I went to a overnight "To Scrap or Not to Scrap" activity at our local rec center.  It was so much fun.  We packed up the sewing machine and supplies.  JuJu produced this wonderful belt.
We used the tutorial from Lil Blue Boo

One thing we did learn was to make the wrappers go back around on the 'flap' side of the belt since the back side shows.

Next up she really wants to change her binder into a pillow so she can sleep during History class. Ummm, not going to happen!  But she did pick the softest fabric she could find at the store. I did allow her one layer of cotton batting :)

We had a great time being feed.  Sleeping on air mattresses on a gym floor.  Eating again.  Making jewelery.  Sewing.  Paper crafting.  And anyone else obsessed with Twilight.  I just barely allowed her to read it and now she can't put it down.

Losing teeth

Can you believe I still haven't made my own child one of these.  We keep giving them to her friends for their birthdays!

This pillow turned out tiny.  about 3 1/2" square.

Dr Seuss Day

I saw some darling dresses on a forum this week and I couldn't resist. The fabric was $10.99 a yard! with out a coupon :0  so unlike me. But don't you think they are worth it?

Before I could get the straight pictures we had to do this:

I used a T-shirt to start.  The original I was coping from SewForum made the top but I was pressed for time.  And, if you can believe it, I couldn't find enough white fabric in my drawers.  I like the t-shirt option.
On CeCe's I did 'rough' applique. I ironed the cut out of the Dr. Seuss fish and ironed it on some red knit.  Then I zig-zag stitched that on the shirt.

And just to step up this little skirt a bit I added rick rack to the top layer.  I used steam to seam to iron it into place.  I used my fancy shmancy  binder foot to add that double fold bias tape.  I really want to get another one that does a wider binding.

I think they were pleased with their Dr Seuss day attire!
Happy Birthday Dr Seuss!
